Jason Burke Murphy grew up in South Arkansas, with frequent visits to family in between Central Texas and Southeastern Texas.
This photo series, Goethe-ized with Goethe’s Eyes, all include eyes that were cut from a t-shirt featuring Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
He can been seen in a photo, taken when he was a teen, pretending to be a cowboy. The photo is next to a cat with Goethe's eyes.
Murphy is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Elms College in Western Massachusetts. He mostly teaches Ethics and Political Philosophy.
He reads philosophy, follows soccer, and advocates for a basic income guarantee. He has written about Star Trek, athletic glory, and social justice.
He and his daughter are currently arguing over house affiliation for Harry Potter fans. Murphy argues you can imagine you are in whatever house you need on the occasion. His daughter thinks that lacks seriousness and may even be a bit disloyal.
Murphy wishes to thank Elms College's Bloom magazine, which included one photo from the Goethe series.
